Sana Malik Shaikh has been the MLA for Anushakti Nagar (AC 172), Mumbai, since November 2024: the first woman to hold the seat, elected on a Nationalist Congress Party ticket with 49,341 votes. She trained as an architect and as a lawyer, and succeeded her father, Nawab Malik, as the constituency's representative.

Sana Malik Shaikh represents Anushakti Nagar (AC 172) in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. She won the seat in November 2024 for the Nationalist Congress Party, polling 49,341 votes to become the first woman the constituency has sent to the Vidhan Bhavan. Her father, Nawab Malik, held the seat before her; she brings two professions of her own to it.
Both were learnt in Mumbai, the city she grew up in: architecture at Rizvi College of Architecture (B.Arch) and law at Rizvi Law College (LL.B.), under the University of Mumbai. One taught her how neighbourhoods are planned and built; the other, how the rights of the people living in them are defended.
Her first campaign came in 2017, for Beat No. 165 in the BMC's L Ward. Party work followed: Vice-President of the Rashtrawadi Yuvati Congress in Maharashtra from 2020, then State Spokesperson for the NCP. Through the COVID years, her relief kitchens and hospital coordination made her a familiar face across Mumbai's east long before she held office.
In 2024 the people made it official: 49,341 votes, and a place among the 78 first-time MLAs of the 15th Assembly, where she serves on the Women & Child Welfare and Minority Welfare Committees.

Won Anushakti Nagar with 49,341 votes and took office on 23 November 2024. Her maiden speech took on Deonar's polluting RMC plants.
Politics, done properly, is development with accountability. The people of Anushakti Nagar should be able to see every step.
